The CBI Preschool Story
Congregation Beth Israel's early childhood program provides an opportunity for children aged 18 months to Kindergarten to play, learn and grow together in a Jewish environment. Children are encouraged to ask questions about the world and test their theories to develop a love of learning, a strong sense of self and critical thinking skills. CBI Preschool & Kindergarten focuses on developmental growth while emphasizing Jewish values and practice with young children through rich and meaningful educational experiences in a secure, nurturing, and stimulating environment.
On average, 75% of our families are Jewish and 30% of our families receive scholarships funded through individual donations, the Youth Auction and the UJFC. Children can attend school from three to five days/week with half- and full-day options. Hours of operation are from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Tuition ranges from $7,000 to $16,000 for the school year.
The PJ Library
The PJ Library is a Jewish Family Engagement program recently funded by the UJFC. PJ Library mails free, high quality Jewish children’s literature and music to families in Charlottesville on a monthly basis. This family outreach program reaches both affiliated and non-affiliated Jews in our community.
Scholarship Program
Congregation Beth Israel is committed to providing a Jewish education to young children, including those whose families are of limited financial means. We also believe that the Jewish community has a responsibility to support those in need. Due to the generous support from the United Jewish Fund of Charlottesville, as well as other donors, CBI Preschool & Kindergarten provides scholarships to all families needing financial assistance.
